Exploring Your Relationship to the Unseen: A Pisces New Moon Ritual

Pisces deals with the unseen, the psychic realm, the ways we allow ourselves to be vulnerable, and how we diminish our boundaries between us and others (whether those others are spirits or people).

When we discuss and think about new moons, it is very common for us to think of the cycle as related just to the lunar cycle (as in the 28-days) when in reality each new moon jump-starts a cycle within that sign of six months of building towards something related to that sign and the area within our chart that it rules. Whatever you begin to build with this Pisces new moon will be built on until the Pisces full moon which takes place in Virgo season. While single month or single lunar cycles are also useful, I find it more beneficial spiritually to think about the thematic six-month cycles. We can have habits we work towards in a one-month cycle, but if we want to understand and master one aspect of the zodiacal lesson, then we simply need more time (and even if we didn’t need it, that’s just the way it goes lol). So, as you set your seeds of intention for this sign, you can also check in with these seeds every month when the moon returns to the sign of Pisces.

I want to also talk about the axis of Pisces and Virgo. These two polarities help us get to know the other better. Virgo helps us understand the innate nature of Pisces while Pisces helps us to understand the ways Virgo needs to think beyond the tangible. Wherever Pisces is within your chart, look to Virgo to understand it better, and vice versa. This axis is very much about spirituality and servitude. Pisces is concerned with serving the universe and the greater purpose, while Virgo is about serving this lifetime and the people around them. Sometimes this also includes animals, however.

Let’s move into the actual ritual now. Given all the energy Neptune has been infusing with the moon, the sun, and Venus, I want to share a grounding baño since y’all know I love my bath rituals :)!

Grounding Baño

  • Take one cup of oats and grind it into a flour.

  • Take any coarse salt that works for your health and body: epson, coarse sea salt, pink salt.

  • Chamomile (3 tbs ish)

  • Chrysanthemums (like 1/4 cup)

  • 3 bay leaves cut up.

  • Dark water-safe stones like smokey quartz and obsidian.

Light a brown and or deep violet/burgandy candle as you prepare your ingredients. You can also substitute white if you don’t have these colors. Take your ingredients and mix them in a bowl. Spend time really feeling their texture. Feel the energy of each ingredient as it speaks to you. After you’ve mixed them for a hot minute, take some time to hold your hands over the ingredients. Charge them with a golden light. When you have the ingredients ready, fill your tub with water that is warm enough to soothe you without burning you (obvi). Add your ingredients to the tub.

Step in and chill. Sit in the tub for 20 minutes at least. Try to air dry after if possible. Try to wear light colors to bed and avoid black.

After the bath we journal

Once you’ve had a moment to dry off, take out something to journal with. If you’ve listened to me speak on Patreon or on some IGTV’s then you know that when I say journal, I don’t mean ONLY writing. You can do art journaling, long meditations, vocal journaling, and anything else that helps you to process these thoughts and questions. Given what we discussed about Pisces, here are some prompts you can explore:

  • What boundaries do I regularly diffuse and do I wish I stood my ground in those boundaries?

  • In what areas and ways do I wish I could be more vulnerable?

  • In what ways do I want to expand my spirituality?

  • In what ways do I want to serve the world within me and the world around me?
