Seeking Tangible Blessings: A Venus in Taurus Ritual

Taurus is a negative and fixed earth sign, meaning, in many ways, it is a sign that is here to experience receiving and stabilizing the resources it gains.

Working with this Benefic, in a sign that it rules, is always a good thing— even more so when your natal chart is a night chart.

A night chart is a chart where the sun exists below the ASC/DSC line: or the horizon line.

Venus is a benefic that is here to add beauty to our lives. It wants, in many ways, for us to experience luxury (whatever that means to you) and it wants us to experience the pleasures of life and to connect with others through these pleasures. Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra, so anytime Venus is in these signs, we can expect to see some good come our way unless there’s a difficult natal-transit aspect happening. This is even more pronounced in folks who have a night chart since Venus is their benefic. If you don't have an accurate birth time, it's always a good idea to work with both benefics bc why not???

The difference between Venus in Taurus and Venus in Libra is the modality, polarity, and element of both signs. Venus in Libra wants to initiate and make active connections, especially through ideals— to put it simply. Whereas Venus in Taurus is more about stepping back and receiving and working with the things that have already been given in some ways—stabilizing them. Because of this, we’re going to work with a resource that is easy to get and we’re going to focus on manifesting something tangible versus a feeling or the idea of something.

So what will we be doing for this ritual?

Well, given that Taurus is an Earth sign, and it’s a sign that’s all about working with the materials you have, we’re going to be doing something with our hands. We’ll be making a representation of what we most hope to manifest using dirt and any of the items on the list that you can gather. So let’s jump in!

You will need the following

  • Cleansing tool

  • The following are required:

    • Air-dry clay or dirt.

    • An offering for Venus even if it is just a glass of water.

    • Sacred water (holy water, blessed water, crystal-charged water, flower essence imbued water, anything works but I wouldn’t suggest using Florida water or any spiritual cologne that is more alcohol-based).

  • Any of the following are optional:

    • Magical oil(s) (Venus’ Bounty is great for this)

    • Rose buds and/or petals

    • Dried cherries or peaches

    • Vervain

    • Hibiscus

    • Damiana

    • Rose quartz

    • A green or white candle.

I suggest doing this before the full moon and either on Venus’ day during Venus’ hour, or on Venus’ hour if possible. You can look up the hours of each planet and on each day by heading to Lunarium. Once you have your items ready, settle into a space where you can sit and work for a short while. As I’m preparing this ritual for y’all, I’m seeing this happening all with a view of the sun just outside the window. So if doing it near sunset or sunrise works for y’all, either on a porch or near a window, that might be a beautiful way to add ambiance to the ritual.

I encourage you to make the space your own. Light incense, turn on your wax warmer, have some spray that reminds you of Venusian energy. You can also turn on fairy lights make yourself some rose cocoa, or do anything that helps you settle into a mode of luxury and pleasure.

Once your space is prepared as you’d like it, take a moment to cleanse yourself of any energy that may be lingering on your hands, in your energetic body, or in your space. This will help you channel more of Venus’ energy into your work instead of any lingering energy from other folks. When you feel cleansed, set out your offering to Venus. You can read the Venus Orphic Hymn if you’re into that, or simply have on some Venusian music or read some Venusian poetry (I always love Sappho’s work for Venus themed shit cuz I’m a soft Queer like that). Take some moments to meditate with the image of the planet in your mind. Try to feel the energy of Venus filling you with her sweetness. Spend some time here. Meditate on what you are asking Venus to grant you.

When you feel ready, gather your dirt and your sacred water. Take a bit of dirt in your hands and start to add some sacred water to it. Add more dirt and more sacred water. Continue until you have a nice amount and it is malleable enough that you can roll it into a sturdy ball. Once you have done this, decide on what shape you will create with this.

SIDE NOTE: One of the first major and super successful spells I did was with this method. I manifested a car for a boy who wasn’t shit. BUT it did show me how much power I had. It was within the first year of my practice.

Once you have the shape in mind, start adding a little bit of oil, a little bit of the herbs, and any small crystal bits you’d like to add. I wouldn’t recommend adding anything that is toxic or not biodegradable to the ground like salt or glitter. But small crystal chips are a-okay. When you have the dirt with all of your added bonuses in it, begin to shape the dirt ball into a representation of what you are trying to manifest. Consider singing to Venus as you do this, or even dancing if you feel like it. When your item is finished, feel free to get your candle prepared. Light it, and set the molded talisman in front of the candle.

I’m not someone who actively does more than prayer/hymns/poetry in my spellwork and rituals so I’m not going to make any language suggestions here. But I would encourage you to speak honestly and from your heart to Venus. Ask her to bless the talisman and to bring you the item you seek. Explain from your heart how this would make you feel.

Let the candle burn to completition. Place your item on your altar or somewhere where you will see it each day. When the item you wished to manifest has come to fruition, take the ball, thank Venus again, and return it to the earth with an added offering.
